Congratulations to Sutton United who clinched the National League title and promotion to the Football League this afternoon by beating Hartlepool United at home by 3-0.
The contest for 2nd and 3rd places - which will give home advantage in the semi-final play offs - will be played out between Torquay United and either Stockport County or Hartlepool United.
The contest for a place in the play offs - 4th to 7th place inclusive - will be played out by either Stockport County or Hartlepool United and Notts County, Wrexham, Chesterfield, Bromley, Eastleigh and Halifax Town. That means effectively 7 teams will be playing for four play off places on the final day of the season next weekend!
If I had to choose a side to come up with Sutton United I'd probably go for Stockport County given it's a local derby for us. Other than that anyone other than Hartlepool!

Completely agree about Stockport and the prospect of a tasty local derby. I'm also in the ABH (anyone but Hartlepool) category, I don't want their Neanderthal supporters anywhere near league 2 thanks very much.

Chuffed Sutton are going up, as it is another game I can get to. All the contenders for promotion are ex league clubs so we will more billy big bollix fans sneering at us, that is why I don't want County to go up. I would prefer Torquay to go up as it is a good weekend away, after that Notts County.

And to visit the worst boozer I have ever set foot in. Sure it was called the pineapple ... that could well be an illuminating new thread on here, odell86: "The worst boozer I have ever set foot in."
My award would probably go to the Blundell Park Hotel in Grimsby where, for the first time in my life, I was asked to leave (without even having had a drink!) simply for being a Salford City FC supporter. It was Jan 1st ... and the miserable pub guv'nor didn't even wish us "Happy New Year, lads" before he threw us out.

Shelton played well too. Rhys Oates was a class above. Pools were brilliant first half but County will be exploiting their second half defensive liabilities.

Hartlepool promoted after a penalty shoot out, won't it be a joy to welcome their supporters back to Moor Lane

Finally, back on a working lap top after nearly a fortnight without one! Did you miss me? Absolutely gutted that the monkey hangers have seemingly stuffed their way back into the Football League after Torquay had two headed goals controversially ruled out. Was really looking forward to a trip to the English riviera instead of now having to trek to the forbidden zone on the Planet Of the Apes. Having said that if you miss three spot kicks in the shoot out then you really don't deserve to go up.

Having just seen the highlights of the play off final between Hartlepool and Torquay I'm surprised that Torquay haven't appealed against referee Simon Mather by either citing gross incompetence or deliberate bias. The two headed disallowed 'goals' by Torquay were perfectly executed and should have stood and it's nothing short of disgraceful that they have been cheated out of promotion. Forget that I don't like Hartlepool and their fans - a number of who decided to encroach on the pitch on the final whistle to goad and throw things at the Torquay fans - but I would have been saying exactly the same thing had it been any of the other play off contenders in the final.
