Chris P has summed it up perfectly. A stuffy goal, a penalty that the linesman didn't have the balls to flag for despite it being directly in front of him and Salford dominating virtually the entire second half. Problem is though that yet again - as we've seen many times this season - we haven't got the guile, inventiveness, incisiveness, knowhow or whatever you want to call it to open up teams when we get to their 18 yard box. We had so much of the ball but just couldn't produce anything of note to trouble their keeper who was admittedly well protected by a resolute and packed Bolton defence. We've still got the best defensive record in the league but equally are well down the scoring chart and that's what is ultimately going to cost us this season. Can't complain at the lack of effort from the boys tonight but we're clearly in need of concerted creativity in midfield and someone to help Henderson up front what with Wilson constantly out of action and Asante and Hunter struggling for goals all season.

Tonight's ref did not seem to possess that special faculty that refs must have, i.e.: to be able to instantly suss out exactly 'just what a player is up to'/'trying to get away with.' Anyway, I'm not too downhearted. It was a noble loss. We've nothing to be ashamed of. The one and only all-deciding goal was not a shot, it wasn't even a pass; it was a speculative ball that was slipped through vaguely towards the far post in the hope that a Bolton player just might be on hand to do something with it. Unfortunately I think that we had Vac's goal 'so well-covered' at that point that he wasn't anticipating such a soft ball being able to penetrate. It happens. On a positive: that could well have been our stiffest test of the run-in. And in the second half we were easily the better team. And ... we're still only four points off the play-off spots - with eighteen points still to be fought for. If we can attack Saturday's match with the attitude on display during (most of) tonight's game, then I believe we'll leave Tranmere on 61 points.

Agree with most points from you all who watched the game. Noted BTA wasn't as effective as the previous game but simply due to the opposition not allowing him to be. Henderson again missed one or two really good opportunities and we seem to be reliant on them going in to get us a result. Frustrating to lose to a goal which wasn't a shot, but to be honest if Doyle was as good as some claim then we would have been buried in the first 20 and he would have been taking home the match ball! Overall the past 3 games under GB have been far better on the eyes than previous so look forward to having a right go at Tranmere on the weekend and hopefully keeping us in the play off mix

Didn’t bother us all night after that. What did us again was our inability to find the net. Not just Hendo. others need to be chipping in too!

Disappointed with the result, but after seeing some poor semi gutless performances over the last few months, it was good to see our players going toe to toe in a match that was poorly refereed as usual, but very physical by modern day standards. Interesting comment from Chris Bacon about Hendo only scoring 3 less goals than Doyle! whom we all raved about as helping get Swindon promotion last season. I thought the behaviour of Bolton's manager was poor and very unprofessional, the incident with him not giving Ibby the ball for a Salford throw in was pathetic. Currently I feel GB is making a worthwhile difference in our performances and all isn't lost yet in the play off chase, another biggie on Saturday against Tranmere. Remember its an early start at 12.30 everyone.

Let's not forget that just nine years ago Bolton were in the Premier League and we were in the Northern Premier League Division One North - a difference of seven divisions. We pushed them all the way last night and they knew they'd been in a game. Not bad for a pub team from nowhere!

I think we dominated the second half, but Bolton are a strong team, no doubt. You can see why they’ve climbed the table. I wouldn’t say I’ve written our playoff chances off, because it’s still possible. I’m a little more confident since GB arrived. But I’m in a place now where a playoff spot would be a bonus. Each game now is mainly about settling the team down and seeing what these players can do. Despite losing, I thought we played well. At one point, we hoofed it a couple of times and I thought that would set the pattern for the rest of the game. But it didn’t. The future could be good!
