This is an absolute biggie is it not? Not just because of who were playing but where we are now in our ‘recovery’.
Bolton have 10 points in their last 5 games but have scored only 5 goals. So they aren’t too prolific right now either. Overall, their away form is impressive, with a goal haul of 25. But they have also conceded 24 away from home. So on recent form, we should have some confidence playing at home. It may all depend on how well our defence can manage a certain striker, who currently has 17 goals.
For us, Hendo is now on 14 goals and suddenly looks more lively about the pitch. BTA had a cracker on Saturday and was unlucky not to bag 2 goals. We have a strong bench with Boyd looking good when he comes on. But it’s still hard to tell how we have progressed under GB. The signs are good and each performance has seen an improvement. But this is the ultimate test of where we are in the pecking order now. It’s very winnable, but Bolton are a strong team and will take some breaking down.

Yes this will be a good test as Forest Green were in a poor run of form and Stevenage on a good unbeaten run so hard to gauge where we are at. That said we’ve nothing to fear and if the players approach the game in the same frame of mind as yesterday I reckon we are more than capable of 3 points. That would, I believe, actually be the first time we’ve put 3 wins together in L2 so a good incentive for us too.
On a personal note this is one I’m really sorry fans can’t attend. As well as a local derby at the business end of the season, it’s my birthday so it would have been a cracking night out with a few celebratory beers thrown in too. I shall have to make do with iFollow and a can or two instead 😀

Be good to get one over out distressed gentry neighbours. Think Bolton might be happy with a point, but if we win we might meet them in the play-offs!

... unless, of course, we're already going up - courtesy of one of the automatic promotion spots. Dream big, I say.

We've never yet put three consecutive wins on the table during our EFL tenure so how sweet would it be if we were finally able to do it this time if only to hear Jack Dearden and 'Super' John McGinlay's reaction on Radio Bolton (sorry GMR) as well as the Bolton fan who repeatedly called us a 'pub team' on a recent post match phone in. Admittedly John McGinlay is the more fair minded of the two whereas Jack Dearden is biased beyond belief in his commentating. I am so looking forward to this game.

I'm gonna have a beer or two whilst watching this match tonight ... I don't always!! One reason is so's I can raise a glass to toast chipbarm on the occasion of his birthday. And the other reason is the need to calm my nerves! This is such a BIG GAME that I simply cannot relax. Hopefully our players are a lot more chilled out going into this game than I am!

We played pretty well and looked strong after that soft goal but once again we paid for our lack of real quality up front. Definitely an area we need to strengthen next season

Outshot them. Out-attacked them. Out possessed them. Denied a nailed-on penalty by a ref who seemed to react every time Evatts jumped off his bench and screamed. Then we lose to a goal from what seemed to be a cross. Still, we did learn that Doyle isn’t the striker we thought he was. He has only 3 goals more than Henderson. Apart from a couple of early chances, we got the measure of him and kept him well quiet.
To be fair, GB has turned us around, but he can’t change the players.
Lack of a decent striker has likely cost us promotion this season.

As you say that ref was appalling, how he saw fit not to give a penalty when the keeper pushed Henderson over I’ll never know.

well what a bad result. if you was a neutral it was a entertaining match towards what we have been used to watching this season. as a salford supporter it was oh so frustrating. there keeper didnt really have that much to do in the 2nd half due to bad finishing , making poor decisions and good defending. our strikers are poor and and still cant see what you all see in BTA.
