I would give the older players a rest: Lowe, Clarke and Henderson. Let Gibson play against his old team if he wants to. Play BTA, Elliott and Wilson up front. Give Denny a run out against his old team. Play Turnbull and see if he can cut it. This is a shot to nothing and will give the younger players a good test.

I would put out the strongest side possible and leave the squad rotation to the EFL Trophy. Let's at least give Everton something to think about on the night!

Everton must be rattled by the prospect of facing us on Wednesday. Why else would they rush through those three big signings, eh.

It will be a second string from us. All that matters for our owners is promotion. They won’t risk losing a player to injury, unless they need playing time for match fitness.

I know what you're saying Chris but why then did we put out a full strength team out against Rotherham in the previous round? Having said that I'm pretty certain that both Ibou Touray and Darron Gibson would love to turn out against their former club.

I have a feeling that Mr Neville wants nothing to get in the way of promotion. We already have a truncated season, so he will see a cup run as an unwanted distraction.

I see that Phil Neville in his pre-match interview wants us to field our best team and to really go for it. I have to say that I'm in total agreement with him.

Agree we should play our strongest team, save the rotation for the EFL Trophy. Incidentally does anyone know what on earth is happening with last season’s final? I can’t see it ever getting played, certainly not with fans there, so surely we should get refunds. I tried e mailing the EFL but got nothing beyond a bland reply about no decision being made yet. It’s even more bizarre given that this season’s competition has already started.

So it is a strong team. I guess that’s twice I’ve been wrong? 😂😂
