Is there a boycott of this site in operation that I don't know about.
Anyway, I'll try and kick off a bit of a chat ... maybe a bit of a mumble, even?
What do fans think of yesterday's friendly against Lincoln? Wasn't that a slick finish by Ian Henderson, eh?! We could certainly do with some more like that (coupled with Ashley Hunter's neat run/pass) when we get back into the games-proper.
Also, I thought that Nick Hayes had a good game in goal. Now ... his signing ... that's something else that slipped past me!
What league matches are fans particularly looking forward to in the soon-to-be-upon-us new season? I do fancy Bolton away. And I do believe that in two days' time I'll find out exactly when that match will take place. Things are (sort of ) moving again.

Thought Threlkeld put in a good shift, Gibson was imperious, glad he is still on board. Still not sure about Armstrong, he will be fighting against Elliot for a place. Hayes looked decent and I loved the early pressing.

It has been very quiet but as we’ve had no football for 5 months not too surprising I guess. I’m puzzled about Hayes, no announcement anywhere but a quick trawl of the interweb shows he signed for us last week on a 12 month deal. He’s only 21 and never played seriously above mid level non league so I reckon he’s been signed as development squad/back up. Presumably we will be after a more experienced keeper as 1st choice as he seems a bit raw to go straight into L2 football.
I thought Gibson left at the end of the season so a bit surprised he played yesterday. He was a class apart last season so fingers crossed he sticks around. Henderson looks quality and the type of penalty box player we missed last season. Agree re Armstrong, he seems a bit light weight to me and I can’t see him getting much game time with the signings we made. Overall the squad still seems a bit light in some areas (full backs and wide midfield) and we would be in trouble if injuries hit so hopefully we’ll add to the squad before the transfer window closes.

Good game from us, for a friendly. Players looked quite sharp. Henderson’s goal was a cracker and demonstrated the kind of touch we’ve been missing. Looks a decent player. I agree with the comments re Armstrong. It was one friendly game, but still doesn’t look the finished article. Hayes had little to do in goal, but got down well for one or two, despite his size. I assume he’s a back up and we’ll get a more experienced keeper. Good to see we’ve kept Gibson.
Looks like the nucleus of a good side, but we will need a couple more players with experience.

Cheers, guys. Great to see that some of the Salford stalwarts are still alive and kicking. Thanks for not taking me to task for mixing Henderson up with Hayes (since corrected ). No doubt when the football really gets going and these new players are making their mark there'll be no danger of my making such a stupid slip up.

Supporting Salford, it’s an occupational hazard to get players names wrong. Some aren’t here for long enough. 😂😂

What league matches are fans particularly looking forward to in the soon-to-be-upon-us new season? I do fancy Bolton away. And I do believe that in two days' time I'll find out exactly when that match will take place. Things are (sort of ) moving again. I'm here, my cider drinking cockney friend!😁 Not been on here for ages due to everything going on and kinda still not being able to tell whether my ar$e is my elbow!😂 As such as I've been trying to keep tabs on things over the summer I've only caught the Fleetwood game (😴) and by all accounts we've not yet gelled as a team. Got to say I'm concerned at the lack of defensive cover with all the players we've let go and after last night's debacle (which I thankfully didn't watch due to ongoing internet issues!) I think this season may be a bit of a slow burner. Without claiming any in-depth knowledge about a few of our signings it seems like we're top heavy going forward and *shouldn't have a problem finding the net this season. Not sure I'd want to pick a starting front 2/3 though but I'd love to see BTA & Wilson strata regularly. They've got 40+ goals between them easily at this level with the right service. Let's play with youth, pace and an eye for goal and utilise the likes of Big Tom off the bench for impact or against some of the more physical defences. Henderson looks an astute signing despite his age and the options available to us should cause havoc. Hladky looks a top signing but if he's got nothing in front of him then he'll be exposed and it wouldn't matter if we had Peter Schmeichel in his pomp between the sticks! Still can't fathom why the club let Hogan go (yes I'm still in mourning!) and I'd love to see Notts back at the club, especially if he continues to be out of favour at Blackpool. So what am I expecting? A slow start I think and a few turgid performances while Graham works out his best XL and the players gel. With the squad we've got on paper we should be right up there challenging but Graham needs to let the players express themselves. Get the ball down, play with width, pace, movement. Don't lump the f*cking thing forward at every opportunity, our players are better than that! We've had a season to get used to League 2 and we comfortably finished-table. Now we need to kick on and ensure a play-off spot minimum or the gaffer could be looking over his shoulder. Ok that's me done... time to get my fat ar$e back into the gym for another hour so I can finally live up to my nickname!😁 Big Al... I'll send you a message via morse code and we'll meet up for a pint and a waffle.👍 Poor TD must miss us babbling on for 5 hours on those long away trips down south....😁 Stay safe all and see you in 2028 back at Moor Lane.😏 *the lack of pre-season goals kinda contradicts this though!

Conversely, I have no problems with the defence, but I fear Hunter and Towell don't click. Henderson will score goals for fun but can we get Asante and Wilson to click. Elliott will be great from the bench. Hladky and Gibson will be in the Lge 2 players of the season

He takes a a pass in the middle of the pitch and looks to immediately move it on. His redeeming feature is that he can score the odd belter.

This site seems to be largely redundant. All the action is apparently on the Facebook supporters group, what can be done to revive? as I am not a Facebook fan. Maybe I will have to go with the majority

This site seems to be largely redundant. All the action is apparently on the Facebook supporters group, what can be done to revive? as I am not a Facebook fan. Maybe I will have to go with the majority Thee is a massive difference between the Facebook groups and here. Here, you can post a genuine review of the game, criticise a player, a managerial decision, a substitution. There’s no guarantee that the group will agree with you, but you get a fair hearing and a reasoned response. Facebook in particular has an official group, from the club. A supporters group, and at least two others besides. A couple of those groups have apparently been created with the express purpose of praising anything and everything the club does, and doesn’t receive any small criticism of the club well. The basis of those groups are “Why would a true supporter of the club ever criticise anything about the club.” I know from discussions I’ve had on these groups that a small number of fans prefer away games to home games, because of the social aspect. One or two even said they don’t care about the result. This is all fine by me. There’s room for all. But I want to discuss my team objectively and share opinions with fellow fans. Not just suck-up to Mr Neville. I ran a Bolton forum many years ago. A Facebook group is easy, because most people are on Facebook anyway. They are checking family photos etc and see a Salford post and contribute. A forum means you have to go elsewhere and only for the purpose of reading up on Salford. So yes, it’s far too quiet and needs an injection of new blood. But for me, it’s the only place I can have a decent chat about my club, without a small, but vocal group of fans just abusing me for having an opinion.

I sometimes look at Facebook purely out of curiosity but when I see a post like "Gary Neville can you please get us a new manager. Goodbye Graham Alexander you've lost it for us" after the end of the Everton game, that only underlines the fact why I never post on it or will ever take it seriously.

That’s the thing. Those people wouldn’t last 5 minutes on here, but on Facebook, they thrive.
