Hi everyone,
I'm a relatively new fan to the club, originally from the south but lived in Salford on and off for the last 7 years (moved up, moved back...realised i preffered the north and came back again).
Went to my first game about 2 years ago with my son to get some live football under his belt. This was in the day of the concrete stand and three sides of standing. Loved the atmosphere from the start. After moving back started going to more home games and have become completely hooked as has my son and other family members i've dragged along. Planning on a season ticket next year (unless they introduce half season tickets) and already have my own spot to the left of the goal in the East stand.
Used to follow premier league but have become disillusioned with it, its now all about how much clubs spend, and now realise that lower league football is for me.
come on you Ammies!!

Greetings Ian. I swapped higher tier football around 5 years ago, after becoming disillusioned, just as you did. There’s been some good times in recent years and there will be more to come. The challenge will be to keep the family feel at the club.

Nice to hear from you ianf1978. I'm another guy originally from the South (Charlton, London) lived in Salford for 44 years, who is in his third blissful season of being completely hooked on SCFC. Football at this level is real, sincere, friendly ... and affordable! Just a little baffled though with you saying that you have your own spot in the East stand? If you really do normally stand at the East(school)end: on New Year's Day, Ian, please take up residence with us on the West end terracing. Stand behind the goal at the East end, Ian, and won't you be submerged in a sea of FCUM fans? Mind you, I did fail geography 'O' level! West? East? Err? Ummm? Anyway, January 1st 2018, 'brief wobble' behind us and forgotten; and the start of a new long run of Salford wins.

Welcome Ian! Totally understand being from the south - I moved back to Salford in 2013 after living down south for six years (well, Norwich, but it's south to most people here!). Glad you've found a footballing home with the Ammies.

Alanb got my ends mixed up (didn't do geography at school) I'm up the other end where all the Salford flags are. Looking at the pitch the concrete stand used to be to the right.

What part of the South are you from? My total conversion to non-league football occurred in 1985 when I lived in Walthamstow, East London - E17 to be precise - and had the choice of watching either Walthamstow Avenue or Leyton-Wingate. I supported Leyton-Wingate (who are sadly now defunct as indeed Walthamstow Avenue are) with a passion home and away and have never looked back since moving back up North. Welcome on board to a 'proper' football club!

Yep, you're at the right end, Ian. Glad that you weren't actually on the East End terracing at today's game ... from looking at the match photos tonight, there were a whole bunch of real nasty-looking FCUM degenerate dudes (and dudesses) cavorting about behind that goal. It certainly wouldn't have been a very Ammie-friendly environment for you to have hanged out in! Final score though. Damn.

haha yeah alanb they looked a right bunch of wrong 'uns didn't they. The final score didn't reflect the match at all, although we don't seem to have much of a cutting edge at the minute. I think those 3 weeks off did the team more harm than good. also the ref was sh*te. tangerinedream, originally I'm from Maidstone down in Kent. Kent is a bit of a barren wasteland for football went to Maidstone united and Ebbsfleet a couple of times. caught a Gillingham game but not very inspiring football. I did take the boy to watch spurs at Wembley but parking alone (at the o2) cost me £26 before I'd even got to the ground. not a very wallet friendly football experience.

Small world mate Only just spotted your comment, leefender. Yeah, sure is a small world. Where exactly in Charlton are you from? I originally lived at 5 Rolfe Road; since demolished. Then - until I left London in 1970 - at 32 Flamsteed Road. It's off Little Heath, near Charlton Park, just along the road from Charlton Village. How did you end up in Australia? An' how come you're interested in Salford FC? Fortunately Salford's form picked up shortly after I wrote the above; and I assume that you now know that we won automatic promotion to the top level of non-league football on Saturday April 21st 2018. The future for Salford City FC is looking very promising! Have you managed to get to any of the Salford games, leefender?
