One of the two scheduled matches in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North survived the weather on Tuesday night, Spennymoor Town beating Brighouse Town 4-1, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
While the game at Stainton Park between Radcliffe Borough and Warrington Town was postponed, the Moors managed to get their fixture on at a very windy Brewery Field.
With the elements in their favour in the first half, Brighouse managed to penetrate the home defence just once, Tom Matthews scoring in the 13th minute.
But the Moors did better when the sides turned round and once Kallum Griffiths equalised eight minutes after the restart, there looked to be only one winner.
In the end, three goals in nine minutes starting on the hour-mark by Gavin Cogden and followed by a Nathan Fisher brace, threatened a real hammering for the Yorkshire visitors.
