Hi All Ammies Supporters,
Firstly, I just want to welcome you into the Football League and wish you all a very Merry Christmas before I get onto the main part of the crucial message we are wanting to circulate amongst your supporters. If you haven’t been to Boundary Park already, December isn’t the best time to play there so make sure you bring your big coat, hat, scarves and gloves etc.
Now onto the main message behind my post today, I apologise, it may be a long one!
You may be partially aware of Oldham Athletic’s current plight due to Paul Scholes’ 31 day experience managing the Club back in February this year. Oldham Athletic was sold by our previous owner Simon Corney back in January 2018 to a Moroccan Businessman and fellow football agent Abdallah Lemsagam. Since his arrival we have had the following issues:
· Exceptionally high turnover of staff
· 3 winding up petitions
· Players threatening to strike over unpaid wages – October 2018
· Isolation of players – banished to train with youth team
· 6 separate managers/head coaches
· A number of disparaging social media posts from ex-employees and players
· Issues with Pension Contributions to current and former employees
· Relegation from League 1
· Hired his own brother as Sporting Director and placed him in charge of player recruitment
· Rumoured interference in team selection and tactics
Back in October 2019 following a number of meetings, myself and 3 other Oldham Athletic supporters launched a new Independent Fans Group named Push The Boundary, primarily to address issues that supporters felt were the most pressing. Following an open letter being sent to the Club with 596 signatures in less than a week and a survey completed by nearly 700 supporters, the owner himself has failed to respond despite requested a meeting with him in a controlled environment and asking for a full and public response to the alarming survey results recorded. This then led to a protest prior to the Leyton Orient home game on 07 December 2019, in which an estimated amount of 300 supporters took part with a march to the ground from a local pub before returning scarves that were gifted to ourselves upon purchase of the season ticket for season 2018/19.
To date, our managing director has since acknowledged the protest but no meeting has been arranged between ourselves and Mr Abdallah Lemsagam. This is where we NEED YOUR HELP!
We have been in contact with a number of different clubs who have suffered similar issues with their respective owners. Clubs such as Blackpool, Leyton Orient, Port Vale and Charlton Athletic have held different events/types of protests in order for their owners to take note of the feelings amongst the fan base. Following the above, our next step is to ask visiting supporters to help support our cause by not purchasing any food or drink in the ground and we felt, given Salford will be one of the highest followings to Boundary Park this season, that this would be a perfect start to a clear message we are wanting to deliver to the owner of our club.
Push The Boundary acknowledges, understands and appreciates that supporters may want a hot drink or food given the time of year that you are playing at Boundary Park but urge you to support our cause if at all possible. There are plenty of alternative food outlets. Elk Mill retail park has food and drink available which is about 5 minute walk to the away end. These include the following:
· KFC
· McDonalds
· Subway
· Pizza Hut
· Nando’s
· Frankie & Benny’s
· Costa Coffee
There is also a pub near the back of the away end which also serves food called Clayton Green. This is generally a popular choice of pre-match venue for away supporters.
The ground also allows flasks of drinks into the game and food too should you have any turkey butties left over from Christmas.
Your assistance and support in our venture to ReclaimTheFaith of our proud club would be much appreciated and hope that you will understand and help a fellow, local, Football League Club where support is dwindling and the wider fan base is being ignored!
Instead of buying any food and drink inside the stadium, we are asking supporters to give to a charity via a JustGiving page. We have since put out a survey to our supporters which will be closing at 12noon on Sunday ahead of your visit to Boundary Park. The 4 charities are as follows:
Maggie’s –

Age UK Oldham –

If any of you want to check out our website which outlines our mission, please visit pushtheboundary.co.uk and if anybody has any questions or wants more information, please either respond via this post or email us at info@pushtheboundary.co.uk
Thank you for reading and we hope we have your support. Enjoy your first trip to Boundary Park and once more we hope you have had a great Christmas and wish you a prosperous New Year.
