A result that keeps us top of the table 3 points ahead of Darlington who still have 4 games in hand after today's 5-0 beating of Ossett Town. Nice to be in the company of a number of Salford fans this afternoon and cheering Lancaster onto their fully deserved 1-0 victory. I think that was Lancaster's 5th win in 6 games and they certainly looked up for the game being dogged in defence, fighting for every scrap in midfield and causing Northwich no end of problems with their quick breaks. Vics had one man sent off for a very late challenge and were very fortunate not to have a second man go after he clearly threw an arm in the face of an opposing Lancaster defender and to be honest did not look anything like a team that could have gone top of the league.
Nice to be acknowledged by the Lancaster players at the final whistle and duly thanked manager Darren Peacock in the clubhouse after the game. But what a depressing experience it must be for Northwich players at their home games in front of miniscule crowds, totally devoid of any atmosphere and annoyingly again no tannoy system to announce team line-ups, scorers and substitutions. How on earth are they allowed to operate without a tannoy system which surely must be a basic requirement at our level? On the plus side though the clubhouse pasties were really nice - WestonSuperManc had 3 - as were the chips from the tea-hut.
It was good to go to a game and be relatively relaxed - unlike when I watch the Ammies!

An interesting post on the Lancaster City forum by LFC-LFC "Did a head count and counted about 70 people at the ground today. Mostly Dollies and Salford City fans (all cheering on our boys), yet the given attendance figure was 127? Classic Northwich"

Shame that the non league gets crowds so small. Darlo aside ? the non league experience is a great one!

Shame that the non league gets crowds so small. Darlo aside ? the non league experience is a great one! A crowd of 275 watched 1874 Northwich beat West Didbury & Chorlton on the same afternoon in the North West Counties League 2nd tier at their temporary home at Winsford United. That's the reason why the 'original' Northwich club get such small attendances as well as the universal hatred of Vics owner Jim Rushe by those who formed the new supporters owned club. And then of course there's Northwich Flixton Villa. But that's another separate story entirely!
